Firearms vs Roman Legionary Armor? - v force armor

I am doing research for a novel, traveling and you need a little information about the penetrating power of modern firearms. Roman body armor, Lorica segmentata, overlapping strips of mild steel strips of leather possible. The total thickness is between 1 mm - 2.5 mm of steel at various locations.

What I know is, how far this effect can be penetrated by regular cycles of rifles, pistols and rifles. The 22 most common parts plinker, great deer rifles, shotguns and 9mm pistols 12Gauge.

The second question is what kind of damage can a short distance 50-75 meters with a 12 gauge shotgun and 9 mm pistol, a person with the same thing t-shirt if you happen to be a first sign. The sign is approximately 3 / 8 inch of wood covered with leather, front and rear. The central square outside was placed on 14-gauge steel.

I believe that moving to what was taken, the penetration rate of the center of the steel plate with a real force, at least enough to make the s hield for the user notes. It is verycould cause damage to the hand (directly behind the plate) and damage to the joints of the arms.

Ideas?

Note that in history as the advent of widespread use of firearms, left the use of armor. There is a reason. Firearms made armor obsolete type.

I do not think the Romans had the steel at the time. The frame is laminated iron.

1. Less than 100 meters, almost any type of ball that the defense, but the ball could stop a bullet from a .22 LR that simply is not much damage. If you can afford it, make copies of documents and proof of that. The largest deer rifle bullets (.243 and higher) are likely to rise to 200 meters or more.
2. Can not penetrate the rifle and pistol bullets, the thick parts. I agree with his theory about the effects of attention of a person. Do you understand me reluctant to try it myself.

Good luck with the writing.

I think I have an episode of "The Ultimate Warrior, where she stands in front of a medieval knight against a pirate in the 18th century. The attacker has won primarily on the strength of their weapons.

Anyway, I would say almost every weapon is a kind of fairly decent penetration of the armor worn by a Legionary, with the exception of a .22 LR. However, bear in mind that many pieces of armor were Roman soldiers, including arms, legs, face, etc.

Great deer rifles (caliber in common, such as 30-06 and 270 and .308), which easily penetrate through the shields and armor of a thin metal to Legionnaires.

Shotguns - depending on the type of munitions used would remain a formidable weapon against the Roman armor.

9mm rounds of bullets at high velocity, which could easily have the armor and the Roman soldiers invade the wound, but their general lack of energy means that someone can draw a few times to kill the legionnaires.
